No contact day 6: the weekend edge
Whether or not it is literally the weekend, day 6 is usually where unstructured time first hits. The stretch with nothing scheduled is where the thinking has the most room.
What goes wrong on day 6
Empty time is not neutral time this week. It's the specific condition the urge needs.
None of that is a prediction about you specifically. Day 6 looks different depending on how long you were together, who ended it, and how many times you've tried before — this is the shape it takes most often, and the part of it worth preparing for.
One thing to do today
Put one thing in the calendar for the empty stretch — not something impressive, something scheduled with another human being if possible. The point isn't distraction, it's that time with a shape is harder to fill with them.
A slip costs a day. The spiral after it — "I've ruined it, why bother" — is what costs the month. If today didn't go the way this page describes, that's information about which door is still open, not a verdict on whether you can do this.
