No contact day 5: the reachable day
Around day 5 the practical questions arrive: their things at your place, the shared account, the plans you'd made. They look like admin, and admin is the most respectable excuse there is for contact.
What goes wrong on day 5
Logistics are the trojan horse of the first week. A message about a jumper becomes a conversation, and the count restarts with a clear conscience.
None of that is a prediction about you specifically. Day 5 looks different depending on how long you were together, who ended it, and how many times you've tried before — this is the shape it takes most often, and the part of it worth preparing for.
One thing to do today
Batch every logistical item into one list and set a date — two weeks out, not now. Most of it turns out not to matter; the rest can be handled in one exchange later, when it costs you less.
A slip costs a day. The spiral after it — "I've ruined it, why bother" — is what costs the month. If today didn't go the way this page describes, that's information about which door is still open, not a verdict on whether you can do this.
