No contact day 28: four weeks

Four weeks. For shorter relationships this is around where the acute phase genuinely ends; for longer ones it's a checkpoint rather than a finish.

What goes wrong on day 28

Treating a number you chose a month ago as an expiry date, and reopening contact because a timer ran out rather than because you want the outcome.

None of that is a prediction about you specifically. Day 28 looks different depending on how long you were together, who ended it, and how many times you've tried before — this is the shape it takes most often, and the part of it worth preparing for.

One thing to do today

Ask the honest question: what would contact be for? If the answer is 'to see', that's the loop asking, not you — and it's worth deciding your next line before day 30 arrives.

A slip costs a day. The spiral after it — "I've ruined it, why bother" — is what costs the month. If today didn't go the way this page describes, that's information about which door is still open, not a verdict on whether you can do this.
