No contact day 27: the maintenance day

Nothing much happens on day 27 for most people. The routines hold, the urges are occasional, and the day passes.

What goes wrong on day 27

Ordinary days are where the setup quietly decays: an unmuted account, a reinstalled app, a thread moved back to the top.

None of that is a prediction about you specifically. Day 27 looks different depending on how long you were together, who ended it, and how many times you've tried before — this is the shape it takes most often, and the part of it worth preparing for.

One thing to do today

Do a five-minute audit. Are the doors you closed three weeks ago still closed? That's the whole task, and it's more valuable than any insight today.

A slip costs a day. The spiral after it — "I've ruined it, why bother" — is what costs the month. If today didn't go the way this page describes, that's information about which door is still open, not a verdict on whether you can do this.
