No contact day 15: the flat middle

The acute part is thinning and nothing has replaced it yet. Day 15 is often when people report boredom rather than pain, and find it unexpectedly bleak.

What goes wrong on day 15

Boredom sends people back for stimulation as reliably as sadness does. A dull evening is a legitimate reason the mind offers for reopening something.

None of that is a prediction about you specifically. Day 15 looks different depending on how long you were together, who ended it, and how many times you've tried before — this is the shape it takes most often, and the part of it worth preparing for.

One thing to do today

Put something real in the gap — a plan, a class, a standing arrangement with someone. The empty space is not going to fill itself, and this is the week to start filling it deliberately.

A slip costs a day. The spiral after it — "I've ruined it, why bother" — is what costs the month. If today didn't go the way this page describes, that's information about which door is still open, not a verdict on whether you can do this.
