No contact day 13: the anger

Anger often shows up in the second week, and it can be a relief after days of missing them. It's also less stable than it feels.

What goes wrong on day 13

Angry contact is still contact, and it's the kind people regret most — it hands over exactly how much they still occupy your head.

None of that is a prediction about you specifically. Day 13 looks different depending on how long you were together, who ended it, and how many times you've tried before — this is the shape it takes most often, and the part of it worth preparing for.

One thing to do today

Let the anger be information: it usually points at something specific that was unfair. Write what it is. Sending it to them is the one thing that reliably converts a clean feeling into a messy one.

A slip costs a day. The spiral after it — "I've ruined it, why bother" — is what costs the month. If today didn't go the way this page describes, that's information about which door is still open, not a verdict on whether you can do this.
