No contact day 21: three weeks
Three weeks in, most people have had at least one day where their ex didn't come up until the afternoon. It feels like nothing, which is exactly what it should feel like.
What goes wrong on day 21
Expecting a milestone to feel like one. Nothing about day 21 announces itself, and the anticlimax is a common trigger for a slip.
None of that is a prediction about you specifically. Day 21 looks different depending on how long you were together, who ended it, and how many times you've tried before — this is the shape it takes most often, and the part of it worth preparing for.
One thing to do today
Write down what's different from day 1 — concretely, not emotionally. Sleep, appetite, how many times you reached for the phone. Progress at this stage is measured in mechanics, not in mood.
A slip costs a day. The spiral after it — "I've ruined it, why bother" — is what costs the month. If today didn't go the way this page describes, that's information about which door is still open, not a verdict on whether you can do this.
